Welcome to Exemplary Films. By using this site you agree to these terms. They're meant to be plain and fair — it's a free, informational film site, not a store or a service you sign up for.

What the site is

Exemplary Films aggregates publicly available film-ranking lists (such as the AFI Top 100, Academy Award winners, the National Film Registry, and others) and combines them into a single weighted ranking, with detail pages for individual films. It's provided for information and enjoyment.

Accuracy and “as is”

We work to keep the rankings and film data correct, but they're compiled from third-party sources and aggregated automatically. We make no warranty that any ranking, score, date, or fact on the site is complete, current, or error-free, and the site is provided “as is” and “as available.” Nothing here is professional, legal, or financial advice. To the fullest extent the law allows, we aren't liable for any loss arising from your use of the site.

Acceptable use

Please use the site normally and in good faith. Don't attempt to disrupt it, break its security, scrape it at a scale that burdens the server, misuse the newsletter sign-up, or use it for anything unlawful.

Intellectual property

The design, original text, and the aggregated ranking presentation are © Exemplary Films. Film titles, poster images, ratings, and the underlying source lists belong to their respective owners and are used to inform and identify the works discussed. This site is not affiliated with, or endorsed by, any of the film authorities, studios, or ratings services it references.

Links to other sites

Where the site links to external pages (for example, places to watch a film), those sites have their own terms and privacy practices. We don't control them and aren't responsible for their content.

The newsletter

If you subscribe to the Weekly Reel, you're opting in to occasional email from us. You can unsubscribe any time from any email. How we handle your address is covered in our Privacy Policy.

Changes

We may update the site and these terms from time to time. Continued use after a change means you accept the updated terms; the date at the top always reflects the current version.

Governing law

These terms are governed by the laws of the State of Florida, USA, without regard to conflict-of-law rules.
