Privacy Policy

The short version: Exemplary Films is an informational film-rankings site. We don't run advertising, we don't use third-party trackers, and we never sell your data. The only personal information we hold is what you hand us on purpose — your email address, if you subscribe to our newsletter.

Who we are

Exemplary Films (“we”, “us”) is a personal project operated by Damian Niolet. It aggregates publicly available film-ranking lists into a single authoritative ranking. You can reach us at info@exemplaryfilms.com.

What we collect, and why

• Newsletter sign-ups. If you subscribe to the Weekly Reel, we store your email address. To confirm the address is really yours and to protect our sending reputation from abuse, we also log the IP address, browser user-agent, and timestamp of the sign-up and confirmation. We use a double opt-in (you must click a confirmation link) and you can unsubscribe from any email with one click.
• A session cookie. Your browser holds a standard session cookie (PHPSESSID) so the site works correctly. It contains no personal information. See our Cookie Policy.
• Server logs. Like any website, our server keeps standard access logs (IP address, requested page, timestamp, user-agent) for security and to keep the site running. These rotate on a normal schedule.

We do not run analytics or advertising cookies today. We do not build profiles of you, and we don't ask you to create an account or take payment.

Third parties

A few things your browser loads come from other companies, which means those companies can see your IP address when your browser fetches them:

• Google Fonts serves the site's typefaces (fonts.googleapis.com / fonts.gstatic.com).
• Film poster images are loaded from external image hosts. Fetching a poster discloses your IP to that image host.

Behind the scenes, our server (not your browser) fetches film metadata from the OMDb API and sends confirmation emails from our own mail server — neither passes your personal data to those services.

How long we keep it

We keep your newsletter email until you unsubscribe or ask us to delete it. Anti-abuse sign-up logs are short-lived. Server access logs rotate normally. The session cookie lasts only for your visit; your cookie choice is remembered for one year.

Your choices and rights

• Unsubscribe any time via the link in any newsletter email — that removes you from the list.
• Access, correction, or deletion. Depending on where you live (for example under GDPR or the CCPA), you may have the right to see, correct, or delete the personal data we hold about you. Email info@exemplaryfilms.com and we'll take care of it.
• Cookies. Manage your choice any time via Cookie preferences in the footer.

Children

Exemplary Films is a general-audience film site and is not directed at children under 13. We don't knowingly collect their data.

Changes

If we change this policy we'll update the date at the top. If we ever add something meaningful — like first-party analytics — it will be opt-in and reflected here first.
